American actor Ralph Macchio gained notoriety for his role as Daniel LaRusso in the “The Karate Kid” television series.

Early Life

Ralph George Macchio Jr. was conceived on November 4, 1961, in New York City by ranch owners Ralph Macchio Sr. and Rosalie Macchio.

His mother is of Italian ancestry, while his father is partially Greek and partially Italian. His roots are in Naples.

In 1980, he made his first acting in the film Up in the academy and in the TV series Eight is Enough where he played the character of Jeremy Andretti.

After which, in 1983, he portrayed Johnny Cade in the film adaptation of S. E. Hinton’s book of the same name, titled “The Outsiders.”

Ralph rose to stardom when he was chosen to play Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 film “The Karate Kid.”

In the sequels “The Karate Kid II” and “The Karate Kid III,” he played the same character again.

For the following several years, his career had a slump, but he was able to reclaim it in 1992 when he played William Gambini, the first important adult role of his entire career, in the smash comedy “My Cousin Vinny.”

He portrayed a puzzled Chris in the independent movie “Naked in New York” from 1993.
