A list of Nvidia DLSS 3 compatible games has been revealed, with many games to take advantage of what Nvidia calls “the next revolution in neural graphics.” The release of Nvidia DLSS 3 coincides with the new GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards, whose Ada Lovelace architecture and Nvidia Reflex technology allow for improved performance in boosting frame rates. Numerous games and applications will be supporting DLSS 3 starting in October, with Cyberpunk 2077 adding Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode specifically to utilize the power of the new graphics cards.

To have players try out Nvidia DLSS 3 more easily, those who own Portal will be able to download Portal With RTX for free starting in November. This “ray-traced reimagining” of Portal remasters the game using Nvidia DLSS 3 and Nvidia Reflex.

Nvidia DLSS 3 is built on top of DLSS Super Resolution, which is available on other GeForce GPUs. The technology behind DLSS 3 is complex and involves multiple components working together, but it essentially analyzes game frames, game engine data, and pixel-level information to insert additional intermediate frames seamlessly into gameplay. Nvidia claims that this will boost frame rates in some games by up to 4 times, and can double CPU-bound performance.

In other news, the EVGA Nvidia partnership has ended due to a “souring relationship” between both companies, and a new Iron Man game has been confirmed by EA, Marvel, and Motive Studio.
