Support for third-person action-adventure games Marvel’s Avengers will end this fall.

Crystal Dynamics made the announcement overnight. The studio said the decision to end development was made with its partners and now is the “right time” to make the change.

The last update will be released on March 31st with 2.8 where you will find that credits are no longer purchasable. At this point, all balances will be converted into game resources.

Update 2.7, which added Winter Soldier Hero and Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat, is the latest new content to be added to the game. No new cosmetic items are coming to the Marketplace, and all final balance updates will appear in March in update 2.8.

With the end of development, the studio will also shut down the cosmetics marketplace. On March 31st, all of the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Map, and cosmetic content will be available for free.

This means that if you own a copy of the game, every single outfit, takedown, emote, and name tag from the Marketplace, Challenge Cards, and Shipments are free from this date.

While new content and customer support will end on September 30th, both single and multiplayer gameplay will continue to be available after that date. Multiplayer will continue to be available after support ends and will still require Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus.

The game will remain available digitally and in retail through September 30th while supplies last. No new digital purchases of the game will be available after this date.

Marvel’s Avengers was released on September 4th, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One and on March 18th, 2021 on next-gen systems. The game received mixed reviews upon release, with critics citing reruns and technical issues as two of the main sticking points.

After the game’s release, the Crystal Dynamics team released a patch that fixed over 1,000 issues with the game.

During active development, players received several free DLC packs with additional characters and missions. Development on Marvel’s Avengers will be halted with support by the end of this fall
