There is a lot that we still don’t know about Hogwarts Legacy, as the game is to be released on February 10, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series XIS, and PC. We have seen a fair share of previews where flying on a broom or a mount like Hippogriff was heavily featured, but many mysteries still await to be discovered when we play the game for the first time.

One of the biggest questions that plagued fans around the world was whether Hogwarts Legacy allows you to take a dip in the iconic Black Lake or any other body of water near Hogwarts, but until now, we didn’t have a clear answer.

We have some news for you, so keep reading to finally get the answer to the question: can you swim in Hogwarts Legacy?

Will You Be Able to Swim in Hogwarts Legacy?

After months of speculation, we finally get the confirmation—yes, you will be able to swim in Hogwarts Legacy. Fans of the Harry Potter universe and the upcoming game who follow its Instagram account got a real treat on January 25 when the developers posted a brief clip with in-game footage where a pink-haired avatar jumps into the lake and swims next to the Hogwarts boathouse. The caption beneath the post just says—Swim. You can also find a longer clip on Wizarding World’s official YouTube channel.

Even though it is a bit weird seeing the fully clothed avatar swimming in the lake—and even more strange to notice a book in one of their hands—numerous fans have expressed their excitement over this confirmed feature. While we don’t know yet if you will be able to dive or interact with famous inhabitants of the Black Lake, such as merpeople, grindylows, or the giant squid, the hype train has departed. Perhaps some answers will have to wait two more weeks until those who purchase Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition get early access to the game on February 7.
